Introduction Although initially developed in England in the late nineteenth century, the Arts and Crafts Movement and its ideals supporting fine craftsmanship and design quickly manifested itself in the United States between 1890-1920 in pottery, furnishings, architecture and printing. Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915) founded his Roycroft Printing Shop in 1895 and created books treasured today for their craftsman style, fine bindings, handmade paper, and elaborately designed and decorated pages.
